Whats New?
Starting A Full Website & Hiring Staff!
When I first started this blog, I did not know what to expect. I knew what I wanted to blog about, but I did not know how many people would actually read it! Just to give you an idea of how busy the blog has been, in the past (10) days alone we have had over 700 unique visitors!
With all of that being said, I have decided to move away from Blogger (the website the blog is currently on) and start a full website. Although I like the Blogger setup, I am very limited in what I can do. For example - I cannot create my own pages or add my own software (such as a forum). There are also some other features I would love to add to the site that I just cannot.
What To Expect: So you may be wondering what to expect on the new site. Of course I will keep blogging, but I also plan to add some new blog writers. With other writers the blog can cover other consoles, such as Playstation & Wii. I will also be adding a full forum that will also cover a variety of consoles and games. The website will basically be your one-stop-shop for video game blogs. I will also be adding some other new features that I will announce at a later time.
Where I Need Help: Below are some of the positions I would like to fill. If you think you can help out, send an e-mail to "xpl0ziveskillz@yahoo.com" with the position you are interested in!
- Blog Writers - I am basically looking for gamers that play on the Wii & Playstation console. You can blog about different games & hardware concerning your console. You can also write about tips, tricks, and strategies for different games.
- Forum Moderators - I am also going to need a few moderators on the forums. At this time I am only looking for 2-3 people, and will expand as the website grows.
- Website Promoters: The most important part of the website will be it's members! I will need some people to help me get the word out! This includes posting via Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, various forums, and e-mail. If you are active in the gaming community, I could use your help!
About The Video Stream On The Blog
As you may have noticed, I have added video to the top of this blog. My original plan was to use this space to showcase gaming videos I came across. It was a good idea, but I came up with a better one. Rather then show you videos you can see everyday on Youtube, I decided to use this video space for live gaming streams.
If you are not familiar with it, a live gaming stream is exactly what it sounds like! It is a live video feed of someone gaming. The stream that you currently see above is provided by a great guy known as @SFX_KONA. I personally enjoy his stream because he plays similar games that I do, and his video quality is very high.
In the future I plan to have a stream of my own, but for now I am going to give @SFX_KONA the spotlight. In case you are wondering @SFX_KONA plays games such as Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Gears Of War 2, Borderlands, Left For Dead 2, & Call Of Duty 4. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!
Special thanks to @SFX_KONA for letting us use his stream, show him some love and follow him on Twitter!
Domination Strategy On HighRise (MW2)
One of the things I would like to start doing here is sharing strategies. So to start I am going to share an awesome strategy for the "Domination" game on the "HighRise" map.
Last night I jumped on a 3rd person team tactical public match. In this specific lobby my team was matched against a clan. I always like playing public games against a clan because it really goes to show you how team work and strategies can really own a game. Another plus, you also can learn some really cool tricks.
In this match my team spawned at "A" and the opposing team spawned on "C". We naturally picked up "A" first and proceeded to move to "B". The only problem was, right off the bat we were pinned down. By that I mean we could not move away from "A". It seemed every time one of us stuck our head out, we were dead. I continually tried jumping out of the front windows, but no matter which direction I went I was killed. Next I tried to go underground and run to "A" that way, but I was also picked off every time. This became very frustrating, but I also started to take notice to what the other team was doing. They had strategically placed their players. With this setup they had a firm hold on "A" & "B", and that is all you need to win the game. By pinning us down, we had no chance of coming back. Even if we happened to sneak through, their player placement always had us caught. It was a really good game (for them!), and I am giving them an A+ for strategy. Here is what their setup looked like:
The red X's are where their players were. Notice the player in front of "C". His main role was to pick off any players running underground. This made it impossible to sneak by. Even when you expected him to be there, he would pop out from another direction and get you. The 2 players close to "A" would occasionally push forward and then pull back to their position. This was enough to get you frustrated and storm out trying to kill everything in sight. Of course this worked for them because you are so caught up trying to kill the guy that keeps killing you, you don't even see the guy on the other side.
Have your own strategy for this map? Share it in our comments!
Win A Star Trek Online Beta Code!
If you follow my Twitter you saw that I won a beta code to "Star Trek Online". As happy as I am that I won, I don't think I can play the game to it's fullest. The game is PC based, and requires a bit of a higher end computer. My computer is decent, but is lacking in the gfx card department.
With all of that being said, I have decided to give the beta code away as well. To win, follow these easy steps:
1. Follow Me On Twitter: @xpl0ziveskillz
2. Re-Tweet this message:
Win A Free Star Trek Online Beta Code! Simply Follow @xpl0ziveskillz and Re-Tweet This Message! http://bit.ly/7hUShJ
I will randomly pick a winner in 24 hours (Thursday, January 7th - 1:15 P.M. EST).
Good luck!
Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Only a few games really get me excited before they release, and this is one of them! Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (BF:BC2) is a follow up to the original hit Battlefield: Bad Company. The story behind the original game was that "Bad Company" was a company where the forces sent the "misfits" of the service. As with most first person shooters, the single player story was entertaining. Where the game really shined was with it's multiplayer game play.
BF:BC2 is supposed to bring the same great multiplayer action, with some great additions. They have down sized the classes in this game from 5 to 4. There will be the "Assault," "Engineer," "Recon," and "Medic". Personally, I love playing medic, but that is besides the point! In this release they will also have attachments for weapons such as an ACOG scope. There is also talk about their being perks (similar to the COD series). Another great thing about BF:BC2 is the fact that all the games will be hosted on dedicated servers, you can't complain about that!
Below are 2 videos from the game. The first is some raw video footage of weapon selection from the beta that was released for Xbox 360. The second is actual gameplay from the PS3.
BF:BC2 is set to release March 2nd, 2010 - so if you have not pre-ordered it yet, now is the time! If you pre-order from Gamestop you all also receive the AKS-74U unlocked. All in all, this is looking like an awesome game and I cannot wait to start playing. Let the countdown begin!
Big Updates To The Blog!
If you have not noticed already, I have spent the start of my new year working on this blog! We have added some great features that will not only make this site better, but make it easier for you to use. Here is a full break down of what has been done, and what is to come!
- Changed The Blog Design - Obviously this one is the most noticable. The whole reason for this was to add more space. I basically needed room to add some new features such as the live video game streaming & some gamer cards. I love the look and feel of this design, and it definitely meets my needs!
- Added Video To The Top Of Page - Another change you should notice immidietly is the video on the top of the page. I will use this section to spotlight good video's.
- Added A Live Streaming Video - This is something I have been wanting to do for awhile. Right now the live video gaming stream is provided by @SFX_KONA. His videos have great quality, are live, and mostly of Call Of Duty: MW2! Be sure to check that out and follow him on Twitter!
- Added FeedBurner, Digg, Technorati, StumbleIt Support - On the very bottom of the page you will see links to these services. This is also something I wanted to add to the blog to get the buzz around.
- Created Links On The Top To All My Profiles - I have added a top menu to the site to help organize all of my pages. Having multiple profiles can get confusing to keep everyone informed about. With them on the top, they are all in one spot.
- Sorted Articles By Dates - This was not originally not in my plan, but I was having a couple of issues with the articles sorted by categories. For now I will keep them sorted by date, but I plan to bring the categories back very soon!
- Reformatting Articles - You may notice through the next couple of days some articles disappearing. The reason for this is I am reformatting them to fit with the new blog. Don't worry, they will be back soon!
What I Played In 2009!
As this year is coming to a close, I figured I would put together my "top 5" list for 2009. These are the 5 games that I found myself playing the most (even though some of them came out earlier).
5. Grand Theft Auto - Since the days of PlayStation 1 I have been a GTA fan, so this game was a must have! I can say this game did not disappoint me this year and provided me with endless hours of hell raising!
4. Call Of Duty World At War - I am going to admit, I could not get into this game. I played the single player campaign for 2 hours and never touched it again, I played the multiplayer till about level 20, and never played it again. The thing that did save this game for me was the Nazi Zombie mode. This provided many late nights of split screen fun in my house!
3. Call Of Duty 4 - Of course I played COD 4 this year! Though the game has been around for awhile, I found fun in it by prestiging (was sitting at 55 forever). This game will always be played in my collection!
2. Battlefield Bad Company - I don't know if it is just me, but I love this game! Am I the only one? BF:BC does not seem to have a big following, but I think this game kicks ass! There is nothing better then rushing a base with a couple of tanks and a helicopter!
1. Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 - You knew this was going to take the top spot! To be honest with you, it almost didn't. I personally found COD MW2 to be a bit boring after the "Wow Factor" wore off...what saved this game for me was 3rd person team tactical. This mode gives the game such a fresh feel, and sucks me right back in everytime!
